FLÅM – BERGEN
Check out of your hotel. Make your way to the meeting point for your small group electric minibus tour to Stegastein Viewpoint. The tour starts near the railway station in Flåm and continues out the beautiful bay towards the area’s municipal centre Aurland. On the way out the fjord, you will pass by Otternes, where you will catch a glimpse of a cluster of 18th-century farms on the hillside.
When you get to Aurland, the ascent towards Stegastein’s vantage point starts. On the way up the steep mountainside towards Stegastein, you will have a scenic view over the beautiful Aurlandsfjord and the surrounding mountains. The Stegastein viewpoint is a 30 meter long and 4-meter wide construction made of steel and laminated pine. It was designed by Todd Saunders and Tommie Wilhelmsen and completed in 2006. On the platform 650 meters above sea level, you will have panoramic views of the Aurlandsfjord, Aurlandsvangen, and the mountains. After a stop at the top for around 25 minutes, you will return back to Flåm. Along the way, a guide will supply you with interesting information about the area, the landscape, and the local history.
This afternoon, make your way to the docks and begin a fjord cruise on the magnificent Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord, one of the most narrow fjords in Europe and included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Arrive in the small village of Gudvangen. From here, take a bus trip through Nærøydalen valley, with its charming villages and scenic nature landscape. Along the route you will see stunning vistas of lush valleys, cascading waterfalls, and towering cliffs. During the summer season, there will be a photo stop at Stalheim, overlooking the stunning Nærøydalen valley.
Arrive in Voss, dubbed Norway’s adventure capital, where you board your train and continue on the Bergen Railway. Bergen is Norway’s second largest city but one with a small-town charm and atmosphere. Upon arrival, private transfer to your hotel.
