Itinerary
Day 1
GORISKA BRDA Arrival in Ljubljana or Venice Airport. Welcome and private transfer with your English speaking driver-guide to the Goriška Brda wine region, about one and half hours. Check in at your hotel set in a 16th-century castle.
Day 2
BreakfastGORISKA BRDA After breakfast at the hotel, begin by driving through Goriška Brda, the grape-growing region of western Slovenia. Its rolling landscape and hilltop villages are home to more than 200 wine producers. Visit two wineries including the Movia Estate to taste one of the finest wines in the area with hors d’oeuvres. In the afternoon, enjoy your time at leisure.
Day 3
BreakfastKRAS VALLEY – PIRAN Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Tour the Kras Plateau region and stop at a local winery to taste unique Teran wine matched perfectly with their air-dried prosciutto. Continue to the Lipica Stud Farm, known for the Lipizzaner horse with an over four century tradition of breeding thoroughbred horses. Visit the charming Venetian coastal area of Piran and the modern city of Portorož. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant in Piran. Return to Goriška Brda for overnight.
Day 4
BreakfastGORISKA BRDA – KOBARID – BLED After breakfast, check-out of your hotel and drive towards Kobarid in the Soca Valley; visit the awarded WWI museum. In the afternoon, enjoy a panoramic drive over the Vrši Pass across the Julian Alps. Arrive early evening in Bled and check into your hotel.
Day 5
BreakfastBOHINJ Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Today, take a ride on an original historic gondola-like pletna boat to Slovenia’s only island to ring the wishing bell in St. Mary’s Church. Visit Bled’s historic castle perched high above the lakeshore where you can take in the magnificent views and witness the display of medieval painting techniques. In the afternoon, drive to Bohinj Lake in Triglav National Park, then ascend by cable-car to Mount Vogel and enjoy breathtaking views of the lake.
Day 6
Breakfast / LunchLJUBLJANA – POSTOJNA After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Slovenia’s capital and start your day with a walking tour of Ljubljana. Sights include: Preseren Square, the Three Bridges, the Baroque Town Hall and Robba’s Fountain. The highlight of your tour is the central open-air market, Tržnica. Transfer to Postojna Cave where you will take a train through the underground world of the largest caves in the Karst region with galleries chambers and halls; lunch included. In the late afternoon, return to Bled for overnight.
Day 7
BreakfastBLED – ZAGREB AIRPORT – DUBROVNIK, CROATIA After breakfast, depart for Zagreb Airport (2.5 hrs), then board your flight to the beautiful walled city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Arrival, welcome and transfer to your hotel.
Day 8
Breakfast DUBROVNIK – KONAVLE – CAVTAT After breakfast at the hotel, you will begin your full-day guided sightseeing tour of the old city of Dubrovnik, learning about its history; then enjoy some free time for lunch and shopping on your own. Later, depart for the Konavle region to visit a former mill for a tasting of homemade brandy, a glass of wine and snacks. Continue to picturesque Cavtat, the southernmost town in Croatia to enjoy the palm-lined sea promenade and spectacular scenery. Drive back to Dubrovnik; arrive in the late afternoon and enjoy your evening at leisure.
Day 9
BreakfastKOTOR & BUDVA, MONTENEGRO Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. This morning, depart for the old Mediterranean port town of Kotor, Montenegro, whose recorded history dates back to the 9th-Century. Next, stop at Budva, a coastal town in Montenegro known for its sandy beaches, diverse nightlife and unique Mediterranean architecture. In the afternoon, return to Dubrovnik for overnight.
Day 10
BreakfastDUBROVNIK – HOME After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for your home-bound flight.
