Day 1

VÁGAR – TÓRSHAVN

Welcome to the Faroe Islands! Upon arrival at Vágar Airport, pick up your rental car and begin your scenic adventure. Your first stop is the charming village of Bøur, known for its turf-roofed houses and breathtaking views of the islet Tindhólmur and the dramatic sea stacks of Drangarnir rising from the Atlantic. Continue to Gásadalur, one of the most photogenic spots in the Faroe Islands, where you can take a leisurely walk to the iconic Múlafossur Waterfall, cascading gracefully from the cliffs into the ocean below. If time and energy allow, consider hiking the famous “Lake Above the Ocean” trail near Miðvágur, where optical illusions make the lake appear to hang suspended above the sea. Later, drive to, the quaint capital, pausing at scenic viewpoints for sweeping panoramas of fjords and valleys. Settle in for the night at Hotel Føroyar, with impressive hillside views over Tórshavn.

TÓRSHAVN – KIRKJUBØURTÓRSHAVN

After breakfast at your hotel, meet your private local guide for a guided walking tour of Tórshavn. Explore the historic harbor, cobbled lanes, and the grass-roofed houses of Tinganes, the oldest part of the capital and one of the world’s oldest parliamentary meeting places. Enjoy lunch at a cozy local café before heading to the nearby village of Kirkjubøur, the spiritual heart of the Faroes and home to medieval ruins and the 900-year-old Roykstovan, one of the oldest inhabited wooden houses in the world. In the afternoon, set out on a thrilling RIB boat excursion around Hestur Island, gliding past towering sea cliffs teeming with seabirds and venturing into one of the world’s largest sea grottoes. Return to Tórshavn for an evening at leisure.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Meet your private guide this morning and drive to Sandoy, where you’ll board the ferry to the remote and peaceful island of Skúgvoy. This little-visited gem is rich in birdlife and pastoral beauty. Embark on a scenic hike through the valley of Fagridalur, where the cliffs host hundreds of nesting seabirds. Afterwards, enjoy a home-cooked lunch with a local family, offering an authentic taste of Faroese hospitality and island life. In the afternoon, return by ferry to Sandoy and make your way back to Tórshavn and your hotel.

After breakfast at your hotel. Spend a leisurely morning in Tórshavn before driving to the peaceful village of Selatrað for a memorable farm visit. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious farm-to-table lunch prepared with locally sourced ingredients, offering a true taste of rural Faroese life. Return to Tórshavn for an evening at leisure.

Breakfast at your hotel. This morning, drive north to the islands of Borðoy, Kunoy, and Viðoy, where dramatic landscapes and small fishing villages dot the rugged coastline. Explore the area on your own. In the afternoon, join a shared fishing trip aboard a traditional Faroese boat, guided by an experienced local fisherman. Cast your line into the pristine North Atlantic waters and enjoy a bit of sightseeing by sea, surrounded by stunning cliffs and birdlife. Later, bring your fresh catch ashore and have it prepared for dinner by locals, enjoying the freshest meal possible in true Faroese style. Return back to your hotel in Torshavn and spend the balance of your day at leisure.

TÓRSHAVN – SAKSUN – TJØRNUVÍK – GJÓGV TÓRSHAVN

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Set off on one of the most scenic drives in the Faroe Islands at Saksun, a tranquil village framed by steep mountains and a serene tidal lagoon that changes character with the tides. Continue to Tjørnuvík, a picturesque bay-side village offering spectacular views of the Giant and the Witch sea stacks. According to legend, they were a giant and a witch sent from Iceland to drag the islands back to Iceland. However, their attempt failed, and as the sun rose, they were turned to stone, and they have remained there ever since. Stop at the majestic Fossá Waterfall, the highest in the Faroes, before continuing along the winding mountain road to Gjógv, a charming village named after its striking sea-filled gorge. Take a stroll along the cliffs and down into the gorge itself, admiring the rugged beauty of the coastline. On your return to Tórshavn, pause at Hvíthamar viewpoint for a breathtaking panorama over Funningsfjørður, before spending your final night in Tórshavn.
