17th Century Hotel and Working Farm
Located in the heart of Ecuador’s Avenue of Volcanoes you will have breathtaking views from every side! The climate at the Hacienda is temperate year round, thanks to its equatorial location. Days are often bright and warm, if visiting from December to June you can expect the occasional spring like shower. July to September is usually dry and hot, with excellent views of the surrounding mountains. In October and November the weather can vary. Nights tend to be crisp, but the skies are star-studded, perfect for a glass of wine by the fire!
Zuleta is a living reflection of the region’s history! It started as a refuge from volcanoes, a ceremonial location for Caranqui chiefs, and a rich agricultural resource for the conquering Incas and Spanish.
The Hacienda was home to former Ecuador President Galo Plazza Lasso and his family. It is blessed with beautiful antique rooms, delicious home-grown Andean cuisine and a wealth of activities to choose from. Visit mountain lakes and vistas by horseback, find hidden trails with centuries of history by foot, see and learn about endangered species at the Condor Huasi facilities or take a cooking or local embroidery class – all this and more at the Hacienda Zuleta!
