Itinerary
Day 1
DinnerTORONTO – MIAMI – LA PAZ Overnight flight to La Paz, Bolivia via Miami.
Day 2
BreakfastLA PAZ Arrival in La Paz, a city with sky-high altitude and breathtaking scenery and charm. Transfer to your hotel. Take the day to get used to the altitude. Overnight at Hotel Presidente.
Day 3
Breakfast / Lunch / DinnerLA PAZ – TIWANAKU – HUATAJATA After breakfast, begin your private tour to the ruins of Tiwanaku which during its splendor, was the largest city in the world. See the Sun Gate, the monoliths and their metal and ceramic art which are some of the examples of advancements achieved by this culture. After lunch, transfer to Huatajata. Upon arrival, visit the Altiplano Museum and handicraft village. See elegant vicuñas, llamas, alpacas and the mystical Suri. Have an incredible encounter with the Mystic World of the Kallawayas, the natural healers of Bolivia. Enjoy a drink and candlelit dinner followed by a night visit to the Alajpacha Native Observatory to learn from the Aymaras and watch the southern constellations.
Day 4
Breakfast / LunchHUATAJATA – COPACABANA – SUN ISLAND – MOON ISLAND – URUS IRUITOS – HUATAJATA – LA PAZ After breakfast, take a hydrofoil to Copacabana and visit the shrine of the Dark Virgin and Sun Island to the Grand Stairs of the Inca and the Sacred Fountain where you can taste the water believed to give eternal youth and happiness. After lunch at the Uma Kollu archaeological restaurant, visit the handicraft market. Continue by hydrofoil to Moon Island then to Urus Iruitos floating islands. Return to La Paz via Huatajata along roads running parallel to the Andes Mountains. Return to La Paz.
Day 5
BreakfastLA PAZ – SUCRE After breakfast, transfer to airport for your flight to Sucre. Enjoy an afternoon city tour of Sucre and its museums to gain and understanding of the past and present of this unique town. Visit the Monastery of La Recoleta and the House of Liberty where Simon Bolivar signed the Independence of Bolivia, and the colourful local market.
Day 6
Breakfast / Lunch / DinnerSUCRE – POTOSI – UYUNI After breakfast, journey from Sucre to Potosí, the famous colonial city and source of silver during colonial times. Visit Casa de la Moneda with its wooden machinery used to make silver coins for Spain, and visit the local mine. Continue by private transfer to Uyuni.
Day 7
Breakfast / Lunch / DinnerUYUNI After breakfast, depart to Colchani, a village where the majority of the salt consumed in Bolivia is produced. The Uyuni Salt Flat is the largest on earth: a 12,000 km2 area with pure blue skies and cacti amongst a backdrop of immense salt desert. Visit the cold spring water, Ojos de Agua then continue to Isla Pescado, an oasis with unique flora and fauna right in the middle of the salt lake. Here, have lunch at a local restaurant.
Day 8
Breakfast UYUNI – LA PAZ After breakfast, transfer to the airport to board your flight to La Paz. In the afternoon, take a tour of La Paz, a city with breathtaking panoramic views. Visit native, colonial and modern areas of the city, the Indian market, the Witch Doctor’s market and Moon Valley, a clay formation resembling the face of the moon.
Day 9
Breakfast LA PAZ – RURRENABAQUE After breakfast, transfer to airport to board flight to Rurrenabaque, an easy gateway for access to unique eco-lodges in and around Madidi National Park. You'll be welcomed by our local representative and transferred to your hotel.
Day 10
Breakfast / Lunch / DinnerRURRENABAQUE – CHALALAN After breakfast, travel by boat on the Beni and Tuichi Rivers to Chalalan Lake located within the Madidi National Park. Hike from the river shores to reach Chalalan Lodge. After lunch, relax with a swim or enjoy a canoe ride. Learn about Madidi National Park and San Jose de Uchupiamonas. Enjoy dinner at the lodge and a night walk to appreciate nocturnal rainforest life: frogs, birds, night animals and insects.
Day 11
Breakfast / Lunch / DinnerCHALALAN After breakfast, hike several trails to learn about medicinal herbs, fruits and exotic plants. After lunch, relax at the lodge enjoying the beautiful scenery and wildlife.
Day 12
BreakfastCHALALAN – RURRENABAQUE – LA PAZ After breakfast at the lodge, hike to the Tuichi River port flowing through the rainforest, then travel by boat to Rurrenabaque to board your flight to La Paz. Welcome and transfer to your hotel.
Day 13
BreakfastLA PAZ – MIAMI – TORONTO Early morning breakfast, transfer to airport for flight home via Miami.
