Itinerary
Day 1 – Friday
DinnerTORONTO – GUATEMALA CITY Fly from Toronto to Guatemala City. Welcome by our local representative and transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – Saturday
Breakfast / DinnerGUATEMALA CITY – ATITLAN Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by water to Lake Atitlán to visit Santiago Atitlán famous for Maximon, a character widely worshiped by the inhabitants. See a variety of handicrafts, colourful textiles, woodcarving and naïf paintings. Dinner and overnight at Porta del Lago.
Day 3 – Sunday
Breakfast / DinnerATITLAN After breakfast, transfer to Chichicastenango, the most colourful and picturesque market in Guatemala where every Thursday and Sunday locals from the region gather to buy and sell fruits, vegetables, flowers, grains, animals, textiles and handicrafts. Visit the Santo Tomás Church where the Maya- Quiché pray to their gods according to old Mayan traditions. In the afternoon, transfer back to Lake Atitlán. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 4 – Monday
Breakfast / DinnerATITLAN – ANTIGUA Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and transfer from Lake Atitlán to the colonial city of Antigua. Stepping foot in Antigua is like stepping back in time with its cobblestone streets, sprays of Bougainvillea bursting from crumbling ruins, pastel façades under terracotta roofs and parks with fountains. It is also a dramatic setting surrounded by three volcanoes: Agua, Fuego and Acatenango. Dinner and overnight at Porta del Lago.
Day 5 – Tuesday
Breakfast / DinnerANTIGUA After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy your day at leisure in Antigua. Take some time to stroll through the charming streets to pick up some souvenirs. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 6 – Wednesday
Breakfast / DinnerANTIGUA – COPAN, HONDURAS Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Early in the morning, transfer to Copán, Honduras, one of the most impressive archeological sites in the Mayan world, also declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Copán has a sophisticated architectural style with numerous stone monuments, structures and pyramids surrounded by the rainforest and neighbouring mountains. Overnight at Hotel Marina Copán.
Day 7 – Thursday
Breakfast / DinnerCOPAN – RIO DULCE – LIVINGSTON After breakfast at the hotel, transfer back to Guatemala. En route, visit the archaeological site of Quiriguá, a site covering approximately 3 km² along the lower Motagua River, sharing its architectural and sculptural styles with the city of Copán. Transfer to Rio Dulce for water transfer to Livingston, the only town in Guatemala where African-Caribbean culture has survived with all its traditions since the first settlers came at the end of the 15th-Century. Dinner and overnight at hotel Villa Caribe.
Day 8 – Friday
Breakfast / Dinner LIVINGSTON – FLORES After breakfast, water transfer from Livingston to Rio Dulce then by land to Flores, El Petén. Flores is a small, quiet and peaceful town with colonial charm and red-roofed buildings. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Villa Maya.
Day 9 – Saturday
Breakfast / Lunch / DinnerFLORES – GUATEMALA CITY After breakfast, transfer to the Tikal National Park for a sightseeing tour of one of the largest archaeological sites and urban centers of the pre-Colombian Maya civilization. Here, discover a multitude of awe-inspiring pyramids as well as tombs, monuments, temples and palaces surrounded by the jungle. After lunch, transfer to Mundo Maya Airport to board your flight to Guatemala City. Transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Barcelo Guatemala City.
Day 10 – Sunday
BreakfastGUATEMALA CITY – HOME After breakfast, transfer to La Aurora Airport to board your home-bound flight.
