AQUA EXPEDITIONS: ARIA AMAZON CRUISER
IQUITOS – NAUTA
Arrive on a noon flight and receive a warm welcome at Iquitos International Airport by the Aria Amazon crew. Board a private transfer to downtown Iquitos for a panoramic city tour and welcome lunch. Then continue to Nauta port for embarkation. Settle into a generously sized suite and begin one of life’s greatest adventures. After an introduction to the naturalist guides and a routine safety drill, gather at the restaurant for the first of many Amazonian cuisine experiences, created by Aria Amazon’s renowned consulting chef, Pedro Miguel Schiaffino.
CLAVERO LAKE – YARAPA RIVER – UCAYALI RIVER
Start the day by searching for incredible wildlife along the Ucayali River, including parrots, egrets, hawks, and monkeys. After breakfast, choose to fish for Amazonia’s notoriously ferocious piranhas, canoe, kayak, swim in the black waters of Clavero Lake, or visit an Amazonian village to interact with native ribereños (people of the river). After dinner, enjoy a leisurely walk in the floodplain forest of San José de Paranapura.
AMAZON RIVER – TAHUAYO RIVER – SAN PEDRO FOREST
As the day begins, embark on a morning wildlife excursion along the extraordinary Amazon River. After breakfast, explore the Tahuayo River, a blackwater tributary of the Amazon, while expert naturalist guides share stories of Amazonia. After lunch, take a jungle walk in the forests of San Pedro or Puerto Prado to discover the rich Amazonian flora and fauna. At dusk, continue exploring the Amazon River in search of exotic nocturnal wildlife.
NAUTA TOWN – MANATEE RESCUE CENTRE – HOME
In the morning, take a guided visit to the local market and marvel at the regional produce of the Peruvian Amazon. Return to Aria Amazon for breakfast before disembarkation. On the way to the airport, stop at the Manatee Rescue Centre, where orphaned Amazonian manatees are rehabilitated before being released back into the wild. Board your departing flight.
